Update to Validation and Verification Body Accreditation Program Overview
Who should read this bulletin
This is intended for accredited customers, applicants, Accreditation Advisory Panel (AAP) and staff and assessors in the Verification and Validation Accreditation Program (VVBAP).
What you need to know
As part of an annual review, the program overview was updated and includes the following changes:
- Transition requirements for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) scheme were added. See related Bulletin 2025-04.
- Clarifications related to initial accreditation, maintaining accreditation and witnessing requirements.
- A risk-based approach is now used by SCC to conduct witnessing in the form of witnessing assessments or conducting file reviews.
What you need to do
SCC-accredited conformity conformity assessment bodies (CABs) need to transition to the latest requirements.
It is essential for CABs to work with their account manager to ensure witnessing requirements are included in their accreditation cycle plans.
Applicants need to ensure their system and necessary documents are in place to substantiate conformity during the assessment.
Important dates
Effective immediately.
